about

... performed/recorded live at 611 Florida Ave in Washington DC, winter 2004. I was on tour with Birchville Cat Motel (Campbell Kneale) and Donna Parker (Mary Staubitz). Local band Mikroknytes opened the show. If I recall correctly, this was the last concert of the tour. We had already been to Boston, Providence, Columbus, Chicago, Detroit, Rochester, Philadelphia and Baltimore.

The venue was actually someone's living room in a residential neighborhood in DC. 611 Florida Ave was just the address of the row home where we played, where our host lived. No idea how he worked that out with his neighbors, but I guess it was fine.

The track presented here was the first piece that I played out of three total. The audience sat on couches and the floor... it was a very casual and comfortable atmosphere and everyone was in good spirits, which was nice because we were all dead exhausted by the time we hit DC. Afterwards, our hosts took us to Ben's Chili Bowl for chili-and-cheese covered hot dogs. That was awesome.

Howard Stelzer Massachusetts

Stelzer's music is assembled out of cassette tapes, tape machines, and a stubborn refusal to admit defeat. He & his family live on a small farm in rural MA. At night, he hunches over piles of plastic, wires & little boxes and makes this stuff. No one knows why.
